There are two types of badges that the Scouts can earn: Progress Awards and Proficiency Badges.

The Progress Awards are the main achievement that the Scout can gain, working towards them in order during the time they are in the Troop

The Proficiency Badges are optional badges and cover a wide range of activities and interests, designed to allow the Scouts to show an aptitude in their chosen area of interest. Some of these badges are earned as an individual and some are done collectively in a group.
